This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment My experience is that if some of them are brittle, they are usually all brittle. A pair of pliers or wire cutters will usually get them off very easily as they will tend to crumble with little force. Using snap on elbows precludes any pinning. Removing the action is unnecessary. Not my favorite job, though. David Love davidlovepianos@comcast.net -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces@ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces@ptg.org] On Behalf Of William R. I refuse to pull action parts to replace elbows. Way more work than the "instrument" justifies. If I have one of these, I remove all the elbows that come off easily or with a little extra "elbow-grease," and the ones that just don't want to come - leave 'em. Whatever the reason, they obviously haven't lost enough structural integrity to warrant replacement. As always, inform the client of the situation and let them choose. If they want 'em all the same, tell them the cost for all that repinning and go to it! William R. Usually you can break them easily with a pair of pliers. I have 40 elbows which are not brittle and have to be removed in some way other than breaking them off. Is there an easier way to do this other than removing the whippens and pushing out each center pin? Thanks for your help, Arthur Chickering ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
