rusted tuning pins to be used?

           Are these pins good for maybe old uprights or somthing, or should 

pins with even the smallest amount of rust never be used? How meticulous

I have never seen a rusted pin behave any differently than brand new ones.  
Maybe if they were pitted, it would be a problem, but the rust is nothing to 
worry about, imho.
