This is a multipart message in MIME format ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Almost always this is in the bass section. You have muted that= section and still have a problem? If it is indeed the bass= dampers, I'd find the Bill Spurlock articles about upright= damper replacement. It's really quite an experience to make= your own dampers. The problem usually is 1 inch dampers= instead of the longer type found on Yamahas and such. If muting= everything still brings a ring you probably have a problem in= the back section of the strings from bridge to hitchpin. Take= temp strips and mute those sections to see if that helps. I noticed a ring before I started work on= it. The bass strings have now been removed and sent off for= duplication so it can=92t be a problem with bass overtones. I= have done regulation on the middle and treble, but there is a= significant ringing in the strings. The non speaking sections= of the strings do have ribbon felt on them. The dampers are in= good shape and seat well on the strings. When the strings are= depressed the dampers do follow. The pedal is not pressing the= dampers off the strings. I have damped off all of the strings= except one to try to isolate one note at a time, but there is= still ring. I don=92t know what to try next. Any suggestions?
