Vietnam was a highly illegal war. Young men were being drafted, remember? Forced to be cannon fodder for the glorious police action of the state god, defending one wicked regime (the one we installed) against the popular uprising, also wicked (a familiar refrain for most all of our “police actions”). Perhaps Kerry’s tactics were over the top, but forcing our soldiers to go over and die for American Empire (like we are now doing in Iraq) was highly immoral and illegal. At least WW2 had a legal declaration of war by Congress, something that hasn’t been done since. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no Kerry supporter. He’s as committed to Empire as Bush is. But let’s don’t pretend that those who opposed the Vietnam war were treasonous. On the contrary, it was Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, et al that acted treasonously. Dear Fellow Patriot, The petition for indictment of John Kerry, for "giving aid and comfort to the enemy," and, thus, to disqualify him for national office, has reached its goal of more than 150,000 signatures. On Monday, 18 October, the petition will be delivered by registered courier to Vice President Richard Cheney (in his capacity as Senate President), Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and Attorney General John Ashcroft today.
