Just got a note from Mark Davidson.  Turns out he aired this idea a 
couple years back, tho I dont remember any discussion on these lines. 
Goes to show there are lots of ideas out there floating around waiting 
for someone to try them out.  One of the reasons I am 100 % for open 
source development is to encourage just that.Many (if not most) patents 
end up burying ideas.
