Like Tom with a router bit as described by Bill Spurlock in an article some years back. I also found that a very slow feed is necessary to prevent chipping out. Unlike Spurlock, I found that it doesn't really matter which direction the feed comes from. It does require making a special jig to hold the key as you feed it through.
