If anything, it seems to me that the angle is in the wrong direction. If I wanted to design a minimum slip contact between the wippen heel and the capstan, I would angle the capstan so that the tangent to the top surface of the capstan is aligned with the line connecting the wippen flange center and the pivot of the key stick. I think Ron Overs uses something like that in his action. Can anyone give me the patent number for that Steinway patent? Maybe I can find an explanation there.
