Here's a good one and a true one: My mentor and I had been hired to do a complete rebuild and refinish of an old Packard. Normally, the two of us do all of the moving ourselves but it was the peak of tuning and concert season here in our tourist haven. So, we hired our local moving company friends who've helped us with a few other moves. The owners of the piano were not going to be home when the movers arrived so the instructions to the movers were "go in the front door- take the hallway to the left and the second doorway to the right you'll find the piano." The movers were scheduled to pick up the piano in the morning. They called upon delivery of the piano to the shop to let us know it was there. At around lunchtime, my mentor went to the shop to find out that it was a completely different piano than one we were supposed to rebuild. He called the movers. Well, the address was 427 West Redwood Street. The movers went to 427 West Redwood PLACE!!! They two addresses were in the same neighborhood--which mostly consisted of pre-fab homes-- and apparently the two homes had a piano in exactly the same location!! Well, the movers rushed the piano back to the where they picked it up--no one was home on either stop. They went to the OTHER home and picked up the piano. And the rest is history. I still don't know if the owners of the first piano ever knew that their piano had taken a little "tour" that day. -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces@ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces@ptg.org]On Behalf Of James Grebe Sent: Friday, February 04, 2005 6:46 AM To: Pianotech Subject: Re: one out of ???? I have once showed up at the wrong house, lady let me in and I tuned and left a bill. That is when I found out I was not supposed to be there but somewhere else. Lady paid bill and I rescheduled right lady afterwards.
