This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment 99.9% of the time the small felt covered rail that is hung between the hammers and the dampers holds the hammer return springs. Not so with your M500. It is covered with felt on the distal side in case the damper wires would travel too far and hit it. Regards, Paul Dempsey It's the first time I've noticed it; I'll look more closely. I get a = lot of spinets and consoles out here. I can't imagine with the small = amount of travel that dampers have, that any blow could cause them to = rebound so far. The rail is about 1/4" - 3/8" (6 - 8 mm) away from the = damper heads when the key is held down... Which reminds me, how the heck do you adjust the backchecks on a spinet? = I can hardly get a toothpick between the stickers, much less my wire = bender... --Cy Shuster-- Bluefield, WV Paul E.
