Hi Alan,

Nope, tho this could indeed happen. Since its just you and Andre who
threw in a guess, I'll just give the answer.

Interestingly enough, it was a loose knuckle. Just barely loose enough
to be able to notice it give a bit when I pulled back and forth on it
with my fingers. How the knuckle could make this kind of noise (just
like a hammer / shank glue joint broken) I'm not sure. But it immediatly
brought to mind discussions about whether or not the knuckle /whippen /
jack contrive a direct line of contact with the finger at the moment of
string impact. Strikes me as not very probable that the knuckle could
make this kind of a clicking sound unless it was under some kind of
direct stress at the moment of impact.... but thats pure speculation.

Anyways... food for thought

Cheers
RicB

/Hammer had shifted on the shank and was hitting the capo? I only thought of
this because I once replaced hammers on a grand and .... this is
embarrassing ... after dry-fitting one of the hammers kind of snugly, I
forgot to take it off and glue it! It worked just fine for a while but the
owner finally noticed it--when it fell off the stick!
