1. Act of God = no religious tone intended, it's an insurance term, actually, meaning a natural phenomon that humans did not cause and can not control, let alone stop. 2. Global what? In the 70's these same Chicken Little scientists were predicting the beginning of a new ice age! Scary junk science keeps the grant money flowing and guarantees an interview in Time Magazine, but it does a great disservice to the integrity of all science, methinks. The earth may be warming; increased solar activity will do that. Huge volcanos have a measureable effect, short term. 3. Hurricane frequency and severity: Storm-specialist meteorogists will tell you we have been in a historic lull for the last few decades. Looks like we're just swinging back to "normal" (solar cycles again, perhaps). 4. You are correct. The results of this event were predicted precisely and N.O. was horribly vulnerable. So .... uh .... ? 5. Don't know about an agreement on O.T. -- sorry if folks are bothered. I'll quit with this, unless someone wants to chat off list. But this topic started with business confidence which directly affects all of us. 6. Hit DELETE now.
