Lower to mid treble meaning octaves 5-6? It could be something 
as simple as too hard hammers, if you still have bearing and 
crown there. If it's the soundboard, which is likely, it's 
probably a lack of stiffness and mass loading won't help much. 
Best way to find out is to try it and see - or rather, hear. A 
Vise-Grip on the rear bridge pins will answer the question in 
a hurry.
