Edwards uses stays covered with felt. The stays are attached with VELCRO and are split/broken ( on purpose ) where the bass strut meanders along under cover <G>

  The cover is just a Schaff cover, the have the felt that will work very well, they just do not have any kind of installation kit.

  I have a string cover to put on a Kawai tomorrow and was wondering how everyone usually installed these.  I have tried dowels and different things but have never really been satisfied.  I have a roll of magnetic tape that I use for let off regulation, would there be a downside of cutting strips and putting on the plate, take the backing off and align the cover, then cut.  The adhesion seems to be good with the felt cover cloth, I think it could be done without any additional gluing or fastening, the cover could be take off and on and realigned easily.
