Went to tune a rebuilt 60's chickering yesterday, it sounds like it has a wet towell over the strings! No life to it at all, soundboard has no visible cracks, bridges are same. Lost its crown? Hammers were reshapped, but look like they were done correctly and hitting in the right spots. 
This piano sucks.....
Suggestions on how to improve please, without redoing the beast.
