Assemble the flange to the butt with your new pin (after its sized to the bushing)then put a couple of drops of CA on the end grain of the butt so that the CA wicks up to the pin. It works. -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of gordon stelter Sent: Friday, June 16, 2006 12:22 PM To: Pianotech List Subject: Re: shrinking a birdseye I've done the CA thing on an obsolete action, and it worked very well. You might consider constructing a jig to keep the pins straight, and use the "gel" type CA, which also helps hold the pins "poipendikular" ( Sayeth "Popeye" ) Tap the pin out, after the CA dries, over an appropriate support. Or you could just fill the holes up, and re-drill them in a veddy precise jig.
