Those aren't what compression "ridges" look like nor does a compression
ridge mean the soundboard is out necessarily.  A compression ridge is
usually a single and slightly raised line along the grain, though there may
be several compression ridges in a single panel.  They usually run the
length of the panel or a good portion of it.  This looks more like a
mottling of the finish.  It's hard to imagine an 1898 soundboard has much
left in it no matter what the circumstances, though.
