Hi Ed I am not sure I understand the below correctly. Keyend felt and underlever contact has to happen so that the dampers lift at halfblow... which is well before escapment gets going. And any adjustement to that damper lift pedal wont affect that contact moment anyways. So what is it you are trying to formulate here ? As far as your general subject goes, I can say that both the Hamburg Steinways Acadamy and the Yamaha Acadamy in Japan call for the three damper lift moments to lift at the same heights. Altså... sustanato, damper pedal, and keyplay. And that the height of that lift is dictated by the keyplay lift in as much as engagement at half blow along with key travel determines that height. I would be inclined to think if dampers are too "present" from a touch perspective it might be a good idea to look at damper centers and damper lever mass levels. Cheers RicB -------------- Having the pedal set so that the keystroke lifts the dampers the slightest amount above the pedal causes the contact between keyend felt and underlever to occur just as escapement is happening. I really prefer to make the escapement zone as transparent as possible so that pianissimo playing is most controllable. So, I wonder if this is too much of an improvement.
