OK, the only problem I have with cleaning strings is you can't actually clean everything...some areas are going to not be shiny...so now you've got shiny and dull areas...do you really think this cleans up the tone?

On a similar note about Kawai's...I've had an old KG-2C for 20 years and when it gets out of tune and bright it is ugly...same old story as the cobblers kids...I tend to let it go too long. Well, I finally tuned and voiced it a couple days ago and it sounds really good...nice sustain, descent bass...

What got me going on the tuning of my piano is I've been accepted to the Yamaha Concert Technicians Seminar in Buena Park, CA in April and I understand I have to tune a piano by ear (if you can believe it...;-] ). So I'm practicing my aural skills...it wasn't pretty at first but they're coming back...What I fine difficult is making a 3 cents change or more aurally. God, the SATIII makes that roughing in so much easier...;-] So, I'm tuning by ear (can't find my A-fork...;-) and checking with the SAT as I move from note to note. I seem to not be giving the 4ths enough of a good beat/second. Seems I'm on the flat side according to the SAT....I'm getting
Anyway, got that off my chest...
