One of my customers mailed me a poem a couple weeks ago about how her piano
sounds after I finish tuning. I was thinking to post it here, but have lost
it in the flurry of activity around my crazy house. It will surface
eventually.

Was tuning one of my regulars, an older couple. Got to talking cookies (she
was baking) and she said she wanted a recipie for thin oatmeal cookies.
Well, my mother used to make the best, so I said I'd email the recipie,
which I did.

 

Here is the recipie for all my friends in Listland plus her response.
Anything to build client loyalty and referrals!

Subject: My mama's oatmeal cookies!

 

Ruth Barnard's Thin Oatmeal Cookies

 

1. Cream together 1 c. shortening, 1 1/4 c. brown sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla

2. Combine 2 c. flour, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp baking soda. Add to creamed
mixture along with 1/4 c. boiling water. Add 2 c. of oats.

3. Drop onto baking sheet and press thin with a fork that has been dipped in
water and shaken. Cookies should be about 3 to 3 1/2 inches in diameter.

4. Bake at 375 degrees until lightly browned.

 

These are crispy and yummy! Enjoy,
