Phil, Dean I've seen more broken strings on Kimballs than I'd expect. When I was tuning rentals in-store, I'd see way more than my share of broken strings on Aeolian spinets...those were a PITA, and I'd often ask myself was it even worth it? Less strings usually meant decreased false beating.....:-) Dave Stahl Dave Stahl Piano Service 650-224-3560 dstahlpiano at sbcglobal.net http://dstahlpiano.net/ -----Original Message----- From: Dean May <deanmay at pianorebuilders.com> To: 'Pianotech List' <pianotech at ptg.org> Sent: Mon, 8 May 2006 07:41:23 -0400 Subject: RE: Piano gets its revenge... Weird. It must be a Florida thing. I tune a gazillion of them here in their home state of Indiana, and though I cringe when I tune them, I don't normally break strings. Dave, I cringe every time I see a Kimball Console. My string breakage percentage on them is way higher than any other piano I see. Anywhere from A4 to C6. I don't know what it is about that piano, or its design, or me, but I cringe... -Phil Bondi(Fl) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
