  I just removed one of those a couple weeks back.  The wood rail that sits out over the keys can be unscrewed from the metal action frames and from the two L braces that connect it to the keybed, then rotated up and back towards the hammers, taking the stickers that way, too.  This gives "just enough" clearance to remove the action.  It is worth noting that this also makes removing the keys very easy, too, which I elected to do when replacing the action back in the piano, giving yet more clearance.  Definitely worth the 4-5 minutes it took.  It was still no picnic, but very doable.

  This piano is the "everthing connected to the bracket" type. No problem with runaway stickers or benefit in removing the keys. Action is held in place at the top by four square headed fat bolts threaded in the head to recieve bracket fastening screws. Clearance here is somewhat a problem, but the damper rod sticks out the back so far that there is no possibility of clearance except perhaps at the bassmost end of the piano. I hope I'm making some sense here. Anyway, I'm also hopeing to get a little advice on what to do.
  I'm thinking I may need to remove the holding bolts from the plate, move the action all the way to the left and lift out. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  By the way the piano is a 1937 Acrosonic.
