The pitch raise speech (not to be read by ladies)

I have an old Hale tuning hammer, for which I have, the #1,#2 and the #3 tips.
I can't ever remember using any tips other than the #2 tip. Ok except for the rectangular tip, on the odd occasion.
I use a different head and Hale tip for grands, on a different handle.
I use a tip adapter with a slim tip for those ones, where the plate or another tuning hammer is too close to fit.

If you are talking about the oblong pins, I've never come across a decent tip that fits properly. Most of those pins are prior to 1880. As for the normal pins, my medium star tip seems to do the job most of the time.

    Alan

What kind of tip do you use on those pins ?
I have the same kind of piano, and the pins are so narrow that I had quite a hard time finding a tip that would fit on it...

This is the sort of C#*^$£% I have to put up with nearly every day!
This piano will not raise above A425Hz
