And Joseph, I use hot glue for the extreme ease of use, with its very fast 
set up. I suppose I could use a more modern glue or a mixture of CA and wood 
glue. Besides, I like the 19th century...

I too, use Hot Hide Glue, (and Cold, at times), for it's ease of use, but in this case something like Titebond, Titebond II, Titebond II Extended, or Titebond III. The later would be my recommendation, as it gives extended working time, but doesn't turn your fingers yellow.<G> It's the "philosophy" I'm trying to instill in you. Please consider it. As the 19th century, ....yeah right: no indoor plumbing no electricity, slave labor, etc....what's not to like?<G
