I should mention that I use a tool for making my beckets and German loops so

the surgical gloves hold up well enough. I probably go through 4-6 sets of 
gloves just from handling the wire but they're dirt cheap. If I was making 
the beckets with my thumb like I used to, the gloves wouldn't last one 
string.

I get better mileage out of the nitrile gloves, with a wrap of masking tape
for the high wear spots.
