What to tell clients

it?"  This seems like a simple question, but how do I tell them that it sounded 
disgusting, without implying they had a bad instrument?<< 

        Tell them it was a piano tuner's dream...

I tell them it was a little ragged all over, but since the piano is basically 
sound, it hadn't gotten out of the ballpark.
