I have never seen an article in the Journal on Kranich & Bach, or for that matter, anywhere else. They are very unusual instruments which, in my opinion, should be preserved. Particularly, where one finds the version with the isotonic pedal these are almost always, as you say, in dismal shape, as the intricate interaction between the rotation of the rail and regulation parameters is so very sensitive to either wear or misadjustment that they usual reach this condition.
