Annie First of all congratulations for developing a successful business. You are following in some giant footsteps. I?remember visiting Maurice's shop when I was RVP back in 1984. The advice you are seeking is in my book, (hint, hint). Schedule appointments with enough time to get there, tune the piano, talk to the customer and leave. (except to do some minor repairs that take minute or two). If anything else needs to be done, make another appointment for later on. If the customer can be with out the use of the piano, take the action with you, even if it's 2 or 3 weeks, so that you don't have to make a return trip. When you fill out your schedule, leave 1 or 2 days per week just for shop work. Be sure not to allow yourself to schedule a tuning on those days, unless it's a real emergency. If it should happen that you don't have any work, take the day off, and enjoy it. Go shopping, or spend time with your family, or sleep in. But as much as you work, make sure you give your self some time off. How do you schedule your time when business gets good enough to keep you hopping?? How do you divvy up your weeks, days, and hours to ensure that you can provide a range of services?? Do you set aside specific time for different types of work?? ? After seven years of hustling to make ends meet (which meant I had more than enough time to work at customers' sites and in my shop), I've moved to a new area which is turning out to be absolutely wonderful.? Today, however,?it became very apparent that I'm going to have to become much more careful of my schedule if I'm to take advantage of the work opportunities that are being offered (and still do my best work, of course). ? So I would appreciate hearing how other folks do it.? Thanks! ? Annie Grieshop ________________________________________________________________________ More new features than ever.
