Trying to be conscious

I used to fall prey to piano owners calling me up and offering me a 'free piano' (ie, free haul off). I never could rebuild them as the wood was too rotten.

One night my wife and I had a nice family night outside. We tossed 3 verticals and 3 grands on the fire one at a time. Quite a conversation piece. Cars would drive by and go slow to determine if my house was on fire.

The was plenty of music as the wire gave, they would soumd like a .22 cal bullet ricocheting.

My buddy who owns the wrecking yard lets me throw the plates over the fence as he sells them to the recycler. The only problem was the 10,000 screws and nails to pick up the next day, after moving the 6 plates.

Do recycling yards take pianos? I gotta dump a burned one.

Our Chapter holds a Piano Burn every 2 or 3 years at one of our members rural home/shop/property in mid-winter, February usually. We pile up a dozen or so PSO's and light 'em up then while we watch them burn we drink warm drinks and tell piano technician war stories! Most times there's plenty of snow on the ground, the temp is in the single digits with a wind chill somewhere below zero but hey we're midwesterners(Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa)so it's just another day in the life!
