Traditionally, hot hide glue was used, not necessarily because it was ideal, but it was what was widely available, familiar, easy enough to use, and worked just fine. Today, hot hide glue is still used, as is cold hide glue, yellow carpenter's glue (waterproof or not), plastic resin, urea formaldehyde, or about anything you can think of that makes a decent joint. The glue chosen doesn't impart any magical acoustic properties one way or another. It just has to be strong and reasonably firm. Ron N
