Bob, Thanks. What I don't understand is the bass hammer angle is established. Do you tilt the drill press table? I have the Renner jig, and like the accuracy it offers, but was curious about little gem. I'm the third owner and it's never been used. It kills me to flaunt my ignorance, but what is it, and how does it work? Dave, It's a hammer head boring jig. Clamped in a drill press vise, it holds a hammer head at an angle set by the gauge you see on the round part, and a rake adjusted by pivoting the little sticky-outy part (which is also where the hammer rests. The Renner head boring jig is more elegant, but I have drilled many many sets on one of the Brooks jigs. I use it for grand hammers, but I suppose you could use it for verticals by setting the travel of the drill press quill.
