I wonder how many of my fellow technicians out there have ever discover a pedal squeak like this one - - I was reconditioning an old Hardman grand from the 1920's or so. I could tell that it was once a magnificent piano, just about as good as a vintage Steinway M! It had a gorgeous tone and was scaled much like the M. At the end of the job I noticed a damper pedal squeak, and after checking and lubricating all the trap work and removing the action and checking to check the damper levers, I found what I had never seen before - -EACH INDIVIDUAL DAMPER WIRE WAS SQUEAKING AS IN MOVED THROUGH ITS GUIDE RAIL BUSHING! I simply put a couple of drops of CLP on each bushing, and the squeak disappeared! How many of you have ever seen this problem?
