Richard This is similar to a bobbling problem I had with?a?D at school. A combination of roughing the tail, making sure the rake and the angle is right on the back check,?and reducing the rep spring to where it just barely holds the balancier up to allow the jack to return, will take care of most the bobbling. It was suggested that the wippen flange and the balancier pinning might be the culprits,?but after reducing and then increasing the pin size,?I don't think it made any difference. Then I read somewhere that some bobbling is allowed, and not to worry about it, at least on a D, as long as the hammer isn't bouncing up and hitting the strings.
