Decapping bridges with a router

David,
I don't have pictures but have used exactly what you describe. I
first made 2 runners very square and flat and the drilled holes to adapt
them to my router. I then lined the underside of each runner with a thin
felt so that it would glide nicely. The only thought that I have in
retrospect that I might have changed is to use a smaller router. I found the
big one to be a bit clumsy. Nevertheless the job went very well and very
smooth. YMMV

Subject: Decapping bridges with a router

A couple of years ago I saw (or dreamt) a router adaptation to take the
bridge cap off. It consisted of a couple of elevated skids attached to the
router base that straddled the bridge so that you could basically run a
router down the length of the bridge and take the bridge top down--very
fast, very smooth. Does anyone use that system and can send me a picture of
the skids and how they attached them? I have some ideas myself but
shortcuts are always welcome.
