BTW, there is one practical side to not having the pinblock attached to the stretcher or the inner rim in any permanent way and that is that after the piano is strung, you can take down the tension, disconnect the strings from the bridge pins and lift the entire assembly, pinblock, strings, plate and all, out of the piano in one piece. Does that trump any small benefit from full fitting the block as opposed to just connecting the plate to the stretcher with a few screws as I mentioned in the other post?
