To avoid damaging a bushing, use a chase pin. This is usually a #19
or smaller but actually any pin that slides through the birdseye easily
will do. This will align the holes and insure that no damage occurs.

SIze the bushings and insert the chase pin, push the new pin in until
it stops at the birdseye, the chase pin will be pushed out partly. Finish
installation with a pinning tool.
