OK, now I see the problem as depicted in this link:

In actuality during the trimming process, my fingers are far removed 
(on top of the fence)
during the process.  That photo depicted the situation of the hammer 
and not my delicate digits.

I am becoming aware of the aspect of photo-impact.  Today as I was 
about to post a few pianos
on craigslist (gotta love it) and I realized that minutia can stand 
out in a photo.  So I fixed the
'light spots', aligned the pedals, and the photo is ready.
