Phasing

Steve,
Don't worry. You WILL know the sound when you hear it! I know that sounds
silly, but it's true. When you cannot get 2 (or 3) strings to sound in tune,
or they sound weak, indistinct, sort of "wet", then as others have said,
they may be out of phase, usually caused by not mating evenly with the
hammer.

Roger used the term phasing on a few occasions mostly when talking about
voicing and strings.
