You can install a upright dolly from Paul Jansen. The trick is to bolt it to the piano. It will stick out the back 6 inches, so it will be away from the wall...remove all case parts, action, tip piano on it's side onto a piano blanket. install dollies with lag screws in the back and nuts/bolts up through the bottom.

Subject: [pianotech] Replacing the Casters on a Yamaha C113 Studio Model

Hi Folks,

I have been requested to replace the small casters (1inch) I think, on a Yamaha C113.

This piano is a school instrument and is frequently moved. The issue is the piano itself is only 11 inches deep with only a total depth from back to toe of 19 1/2 inches and 44 inches in height. I have tried dollies but the shallow depth of 11 inches would appear to leave it unstable.(I'm thinking of safety here) I have never used twin dollies on a piano this small. Actually by raising it on larger casters of any kind other than the ones on it, I feel could make the piano possibly unstable. Looks like the small wheels used by Yamaha with a low center of gravity were to compensate for the narrow depth of the whole piano.

Does anybody have any ideas what could SAFELY work on this small Studio and make it easier to move around? ....I know they should have bought a different model.........

Regards

George
