I, not an RPT, but a member for years, have never noticed the 'pompous attitude' you speak of. I have probably been to almost 20 conventions. I have had much encouragement to try and pass the exam, and become an RPT. But haven't. I tried once, failed the aural part doing worse on the retry, so not wanting to restart all again, didn't start the exam process again. It is a fact, that some just do grands, but I didn't take offense at that statement, as I didn't take it to mean that they looked down on me. I quit the organization because of the pompous attitude that unless you are servicing grands, you nothing. As far as ETD's, my mentor of 30 years, who - is - an RPT, is now tuning exclusively with Cybertuner, reported that all of his customers reported that the pianos have never sounded better.
