My suspicion is that we're supposed to deduct the value of the Journal from our Guild dues to come up with the Schedule C deduction. (But since the Journal's value is inestimable, how could we ever put a value on it? <g>) Convention registration is probably 100% deductable, but meals, travel, etc., are figured separately. The final arbiter in all this, of course, is the IRS, which maintains a handy website for folks just like us: http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/index.html Annie -----Original Message----- From: KeyKat88 at aol.com [mailto:KeyKat88 at aol.com] Sent: Monday, February 25, 2008 11:54 AM To: pianotech at ptg.org Subject: Guild/Convewntion write-off on schedule C Greetings, Is a convention fee 100% deductable on schedule C? What about guild dues? In Potter's course the handout states something about 100%. The instructions for IRS schedule C state 50%. Is it 100 for one and 50% for the other?
