Guild/Convewntion write-off on schedule C

Greetings,
 
         Is a convention fee 100% deductable on schedule C? What about guild 
dues? In Potter's course the handout states something about 100%. The 
instructions for IRS schedule C state 50%. Is it 100 for one and 50% for the other?
