Spray the screw with McLube 1725 L (it is actually a mold release formula) and size the hole with either epoxy mixed with wood flour or thick CA glue. Put the screw back in place after you've swabbed the hole. If you want to be very craftsmanlike then drill it out the old hole, cut a plug, glue it in and redrill. In the field, use the CA glue. Or, take a couple of thin pieces of veneer (sandpaper or felt works in a pinch) cut into two thin strips, put one on one side of the hole and the other on the other side of the hole with a dab of wood glue and insert the screw in between the two strips screwing it in enough to clamp the veneer in place while the glue dries. So many choices. Is there a recommended best fix for this? Thanks, -Phil Bondi(Fl)
