Unstringable C8, was Steinway 78183

It's the speaking length. Changing wire gage, bearing angle, v 
bar profile, or anything else besides the speaking length 
isn't going to help unless you can come up with a higher test 
wire from somewhere. If you're using Roslau, try Mapes IG. It 
might make just enough difference. If it doesn't, it might be 
time to bow to the reality of the situation and realize that 
the thing was designed for string tensions beyond the 
capabilities of current available stock.
