Hello list,
Installing a new Renner back action kit in a 1909 SS A 6'1" and was pleasantly surprised that the belly rail is not parallel to the key ends or action frame.
It appears that the options are to either plane off the back side of the new tray or trim the tray at the opposite end where the lift levers rest.
The original tray was trimmed under the lift levers so it was wider at the bass than the treble.
As the Renner kit is made of pin block type material it is probably not an issue to remove 8 to 10mm of stock from the back of the tray without weakening it so this appears to be the option of choice.
Trimming the tray under the lift levers at the opposite end would seem to make regulation difficult.
Curious what any of you do when you encounter this sort of thing.
Thanks,
Gene
