I find this especially true in hammer selection.  While most hammers can be
heavily manipulated in one direction or another it's usually not without
some price to pay.  There is often a better choice, one that gets you closer
to your goal out of the box.

As is typical of committees, not all the 
active members are working toward the same end result and you
