Tom: As a retired auto mechanic, I would suggest placing the pedal box itself upside down on a solid, padded surface. Place a round metal punch (flat end) on top of the screw and give it a sharp hammer blow or two. You can use a bolt, or most any similar rod. Its best if its no longer than 6". The idea behind this is to "schock" the screw into loosening. Try the previous ideas first, then this one. Its likely these screws were installed with a power tool, which may account for the extreme tightness. Good Luck and let the group know how you made out. Others may run into this also.
