Then, that would help in repetition! The key would feel a "little" lighter, but the jack could get far enough under the butt so you could play the note again.

  Yes, the hammer "rise" is simply caused by the jack pushing up on the butt. The butt leather appears to have a more rounded profile which probably helps. The jack springs don't seem any stronger than on a traditional action. I think it works partly because the hammer is closer to its balance point but far enough from the strings where the return spring offers little resistance.
