[pianotech] Replacing Bridle Straps on a Birdcage

For those of you who remembered my post about bridle straps last week.....

The piano in question is actually a Bluthner birdcage.  Now, I was prepared to replace the straps with cork, or, if no hole in the butt catcher, to remove the action and use the standard type.  However, since I am dealing with a birdcage, would the spring clip straps be an option in this situation?  I just didn't feel like trying to remove a birdcage action for the first time in front of a customer.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
