Thanks, Kent. Those are the kinds of impressions I am looking for; good, bad, or in between. Any other good ears out there with comments? I first heard the Steingraeber with Phoenix system with bridge agraffes and carbon fiber soundboard from some yards away, and thought to myself, "This is a piano I need to examine." I was astonished to find that the piano was about 5'2". Great sounding bass; no huge volume of sound, but a very nice sound. Then I was astonished to be told about the non-traditional soundboard material. I heard someone say the keys were covered with mammoth ivory. This apparently was a prototype with no price, again, "someone" said it was a $100K piano. The high treble had a sound I hadn't heard before; it literally sounded bell-like; very clear tone with long sustain but very different. This was a very playable, very enjoyable piano; serious pianists would be right at home with this piano. Very impressive. I have heard the Steingraeber on multiple occasions, however, and know it to be piano that sounds large for its size, and is one of the world's great pianos. I don't know what a large quality piano sounds like, I have heard many large quality pianos, and they can sound quite different from another. So is the longer sustain the only thing that attracts you to its sound? I don't mean to be curmudgeonly, but I am asking you to indulge me and be more expansive in your description of the tonal qualities of the bridge agraffes, as you experience them. Since this bridge agraffe is now available as a retrofit, what modifications in setting bearing, crowning boards would be required? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><><<><><><><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< <<<,, Will, Its the sound. If you could hear what I did , you would know. We all "Know" what a large quality piano sounds like, and when you hear that kind of sound comming from a little ittie-bittie parlor grand, it takes your breath away. As far as bearing, and other technical matters are concerned, you will have to check with Atlantic Music in Melbourne, Florida and they are on vacation until next Monday..
