Yes, might be. The piano was recently moved, and I have already replaced a
broken hinge pin.

Thank you,

Laura

Laura,

I recently encountered the same ringing and found that the pin on the pedal
arm under the piano was missing (the customer had recently moved and the
movers lost the pin). This caused the dampers in the low bass to be raised
slightly but just enough to let them ring. When F6 was played it rang on
the bass string (I can't remember which one). It took me a while to figure
that out too.

I am working on an old Haines Bros. 5' grand with lots of issues,
including significant
cracks in the soundboard, but I don't have a clue why the sound is ringing
on. I have
regulated the dampers, which apparently were replaced a few years back, but
even when I
put my hand down on the strings I can't stop the sound. Any ideas?

  Thank you,

  Laura
